SUCCESS STORIES

Lola George
“ Lola had bilateral hip (FHO) surgery last February. Taking her surgeon’ s advice, we got her up and moving immediately. She saw Dr. Starr just five days after her surgery and was instantly benefiting from her water and massage therapy. Lola made a complete recovery in just a few months, which is uncommon considering the severity of the procedure she had.  A year after her surgery Lola is running, taking on stairs with some fancy foot work, jumping, and playing like she is a puppy again (and not a 6 ½ year old Doberman absent of hip joints). I would highly recommend Dr. Starr’ s services to anyone who has a pet in need of rehabilitation/physical therapy services.”   Jennifer fromNatick, MA 201

Tobey B
Paws in Motion and Dr. Starr gave my black lab mix, Tobey an excellent quality of life in his 15th year.  With his right hip replacement coming loose and his left hip dysplastic, physical therapy made all the difference in keeping his muscles strong so that Tobey could walk with pride, dignity and
happiness.  The warm water treadmill strengthened his muscles without hurting his joints, and he loved lying down in the cozy dog bed for his massage and acupuncture afterwards.  Tobey was proof that physical therapy really works, as there's no placebo effect with a dog!  Tobey and I will always be grateful for Dr. Starr's kindness, wisdom and expertise.  I highly recommend Dr. Starr - her work is a gift to the dog you love. - Nancy from Lexington, MA 2010

Duke Whitney

“ Sixteen and a half years of age, Duke (Shepherd mix) is happy and still enjoying every day of his life!  He began regular acupuncture and water therapy sessions with Dr. Starr three years ago.  We owe, gratefully, his mobility, comfort, and overall great attitude to ‘ Paws in Motion’ .  A great big THANK YOU from Duke and the Whitney family.”   - Betsey from Norfolk, MA 2009

Thunder McCashin 2009
"The last couple years Thunder has been having trouble with her rear legs.  I noticed a big difference in her endurance and strength after I started seeing Dr. Starr at Paws in Motion. I feel that Thunder’ s quality of life has been increased and lengthened with her regular underwater treadmill therapy and acupuncture."  – Constance from Newton, MA 2009

“ Ariel was referred to Dr. Suzanne Starr by our regular vet for rehabilitation of her left knee after ACL surgery. Ariel still had a very pronounced limp, was quite limited in mobility, and uncomfortable. She was a young and energetic 10 year old.  At the time we were hoping to improve her quality of life. She loves going into Paws.  She always enjoys her massages, acupuncture, and time in the underwater treadmill. During the course of her treatment Dr. Starr felt that Ariel had a problem with her right hip. Working in tandem with our vet, x-rays were done which confirmed severe arthritis.  Through weekly visits to Paws in Motion along with tailored home exercises, Ariel recovered far better than we thought possible.  The benefits of working with highly trained and specialized vet was again clear to us and has helped Ariel tremendously. Dr. Starr & her staff have been wonderfully compassionate and supportive of not only Ariel but her “ Mom & Dad” as well...we highly recommend Paws in Motion to anyone with special needs pet!” – Elizabeth

"Feli herniated discs almost two years ago. Given her advanced age and arthritis I opted against the surgery. Every step Feli took hurt. She could not defecate without agonizing pain, often even fell over. I consulted our vet about euthanasia at home. Then a friend from our dog rescue organization recommended Dr Starr. The effect of the initial treatment lasted for 36 hours. It told me she could still improve. After about four treatments, the effect began to last longer. Now, almost two years later, Feli receives her treatments every three weeks. Weather permitting, she can go on one hour plus walks again! Dr. Starr and her compassionate team supported us in every way - letting us try out equipment, and helping us through a difficult time with her expertise. I am grateful to still have my beloved dog, and to see her walking and eliminating without pain."  - Sarah from Somerville 2008

"When Rosie first came to Paws in Motion, she could not walk and had to be carried everywhere. Several months earlier she was diagnosed with 2 disc protrusions in her neck. My only options left were euthanasia or surgery. Considering that she was 13-1/2 years old, it was a grueling, agonizing decision. I reluctantly opted for the surgery and still was never absolutely sure I made the right decision. We had a great surgeon and the surgery went well and the surgeon recommended hydro therapy at Paws in Motion. After several treatments at Paws in Motion, Rosie slowly improved. After a month of treatments with some home care, with some assistance, she started to walk. After two months of treatment, Rosie was totally independent and could walk and do everything on her own. Rosie could never have had this great success if it weren't for the expertise and consideration of Suzanne Starr and the carefully, thought out program that was designed for her. Because of this, Rosie will live the rest of her life pain-free. Now, I am sure that I made the right decision regarding the surgery." - Jean from Douglas, MA

"After Storm was diagnosed with a back problem 2 years ago we started sessions at Paws In Motion.  The combination of hydrotherapy and acupuncture has really helped his back legs.  I believe that Storm's daily functioning and quality of life has vastly improved with his therapy.  I recommend it." - Mike Morrow

"Buck has Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), a degenerative neurologic disease. Massage, therapeutic exercise, and hydrotherapy(underwater treadmill) at Paws In Motion have made a tremendous positive impact on his overall health and well being. I truly believe that these therapies have helped to slow the effects of the disease and have significantly improved his quality of life." - Rose Eastman

"Brandi had knee surgery and her recovery was slow and she didn't want to use her leg. When she first started at Paws in Motion, she came in limping and experienced a lot of days where she was very uncomfortable.. After three months of physical therapy and a few acupuncture treatments, she is walking and running fine.   By nature, Brandi is a very shy and timid dog.  The staff took extra time to get her to know her and make her feel comfortable in an environment which was very scary to Brandi.  At all times, the staff was very professional, patience, compassionate and caring to Brandi.
